Our first stop for the epic Spring Break journey to the north of Spain was in
San Sebastian, a coastal city in Basque Country that is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. We started with a morning bus ride north through the great meseta, or innner plateau of Spain. As the landscape slowly turned more and more green, we knew we would soon be arriving and got very excited. We arrived and checked into our lovely little pension, the
Pension Balerdi, which I am more than happy to recommend. I chose the Humphrey Bogart bed in our room, and then we headed out to enjoy the city and the beautiful warm spring afternoon.

One of the best things about San Sebastian was the food: delicious pinxos, little tapas made of bread and nibbles of fresh seafood and other delicacies. |

A viera... a delicious clam filled with spices, one big clam, and dozens of small clams. |
|
We ended the day watching the sunset over the port and the other side of the bay. The next day, it was off to Bilbao! |
